The Latest Donation
The History and Archives Department would like to welcome a very special piece of local history to our collection! Donated by John Benham and forwarded by Linda Eales is the 'Martha Allen Diary' is the journal of a local girl who attended West Lafayette High School and then Purdue University. Transcribed from its original tattered notebook are daily writings from 1927-1928 when Martha was a freshmen and sophomore at West Lafayette High School. Come in and let us show you!

What We Have Been Up To!
Since May, we have been busy organizing and taking inventory of everything we have. It's been an adventure going through many unique collections and preserving the history for years to come.
Below: Our new color and number coordinated cabinets. You are welcome to come review these items in the Library upon request!
Above: Inside each cabinet, each box has been individually labeled with what is inside.
We have also been working on expanding our collection of West Lafayette history. Recently donated are artifacts and personal files of Reverand Rehmer who oversaw The University Lutheran Church during the 1930s-1980s. These have been processed and are ready to use for research!
Above: Reverend Rehmer collection! This collection includes church foundation papers, personal correspondence and notes, personally addressed books, and several Purdue football bowl programs!
Stay tuned for more projects and updates from the West Lafayette Public Library History and Archives!

Sunday's Cemetery Walk Cancelled!
Sunday, May 19, 2019
Today's scheduled Cemetery Walk at Grandview Cemetery has been cancelled.
All of us who worked on this Walk offer our best wishes to everyone who had planned to attend and to everyone who has worked to make this our best walk yet.
We look forward to scheduling a new, rain-free date when we'll tell about the lives of some of Greater Lafayette's famed artists.
